On September 2016, TMZ reported Angelina Jolie had filed for divorce from her husband of two years and partner of 12 years, Brad Pitt. While rumours from infidelity to bad parenting spread, perhaps the most telling piece of information is Jolie is surprisingly going for full custody of the couple’s six children granting Pitt only visitation rights. If a wildly successful multimillionaire couple couldn’t make it, love must be dead, the internet concluded.

Brad Pitt reportedly cheated on his wife of five years Jennifer Aniston when he was filming his movie Mr and Mrs Smith with Angelina Jolie. It was not only the most shocking thing to happen to the perceived golden couple, it was war. #TeamAniston and #TeamJolie played out for 12 years post this marriage breakdown. Today, reports for US Weekly have claimed Aniston responded to the Jolie and Pitt news with “that’s karma for you!” “She always got the sense that something would happen with them eventually,” a source allegedly told the publication. “She didn’t feel that Angelina was truly the one Brad was meant to stay with. She always felt that Angelina was too complex for him. He’s a pretty simple guy.”

Affleck proposed with a 6.1. carat pink diamond engagement ring and the couple were the first receiving celebrities of joint nicknames. Coined “Bennifer”, in the pre-social-media world, the term wasn’t a hashtag but implied they were bound forever. Lopez called off the wedding in 2004 (and married ex Marc Anthony mere months later.)
