NEW YORK CITY: It’s 5.30pm on a sweltering Thursday evening when we meet Olivia Culpo at her hotel rooftop in Greenwich Village. She is, of course, prepping to attend events tonight in yet another outfit (one knit tracksuit she designed), her sixth in two days. She laughs when I point this out.
Always primed to complete perfection, Culpo, 26, has a stable of professionals in her glam team. “Well, for me when you like what you do, it never feels like work,” she says.
The model is doing the promotional rounds since her show Model Squad premiered on September 4 ahead of New York Fashion Week. Co-starring Nadine Leopold, Shanina Shaik and Devon Windsor, it will air in Australia on September 6 on the E! Channel. Go inside the New York premiere here.
Chatting in front of an incredible view over the Hudson river, Culpo takes us through her NYC wardrobe these past two days.
“It’s a gold dress by Julien McDonald for the Elle and IMG party last night. I changed into this dress in a public bathroom and I did all my make-up and touch-ups in the car on the way to the event!”
“This is Fendi and I was amazed when someone asked me, ‘What brand is that?’, [Laughs]. It’s obviously all Fendi which is super cool. I wanted to do hair up because it’s super sporty and I wanted to be modern. And that’s Christian Louboutin bag, believe or not. When my abs are on fleek, that’s when I’m running 15 miles a week.”
“This dress was so tight! Yes, I was so excited to take it off. It’s by my friend Jonathan Simkhai, that was for the Model Squad launch party.”
“This shirt is so cool, it’s by DKNY. The shoes are Alexander Wang, the pants are Amiri. I’m wearing Messika by Gigi Hadid jewellery and then the shirt actually says, ‘22% cellist, 24% middle child, 17% jetsetter, 22% peanut butter enthusiast. It’s all accurate.”
“This is one of favourite looks. I wore this for my first day of press for Model Squad. It’s Fendi boots and actually a full Fendi look. I love the bob, I thought that would be really sleek and modern. Thigh high boots and skirt are always a good idea.”
