She has spent her Sydney trip at Watson’s Bay Hotel, Bondi Icebergs and walking in the MBFWA Misha Collection show. And, ahead of GRAZIA’s chat with her, we thought we’d get you better acquainted with Bella Hadid.

1. She feels awkward taking a selfie

Unlike her sister, Gigi Hadid, who loves a pouted selfie with best friend Kendall Jenner, Hadid has always been a little more reserved. “I still feel awkward taking a selfie sometimes,” the model told the UK’s Standard. “I’m so socially awkward. I really have had to put myself out there and meet new people.”

2. She initially turned down The Weeknd

The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) tried unsuccessfully to get Hadid to appear on the cover of his latest album Beauty Behind The Madness. “My motive was literally to work with her,” he told Rolling Stone. She turned him down which is then when he suggested they meet up in person. The rest, as they say, is relationship history.

3. She is the first to leave a party

In 2015, Hadid revealed her plans to compete in the 2016 Rio Olympics in the equestrian events but soon after had to quash that dream. The reason? According to her mum, Yolanda Foster’s, blog, Hadid was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease, a condition usually caught by a tick. Symptoms include flu-like symptoms such as headaches, fevers and unexplained fatigue. For the later reason, Hadid says she now is the first to leave a party instead of being the last one to go home like she used to be.

4. Her 2014 car accident Was incorrectly reported as a DUI

“I stopped driving because I kept crashing because my brain just stopped working,” Hadid told the UK’s Standard. “It was when I first got sick. I was exhausted all the time. It affected my memory so I suddenly wouldn’t remember how to drive to Santa Monica from Malibu where I lived. I couldn’t ride. I was too sick. And I had to sell my horse because I couldn’t take care of it.”

5. Her dad part owns a Lebanese restaurant

Hadid’s father, Mohamed, is a well-known real estate agent in the affluent Bel Air and Beverly Hills neighbourhoods in Los Angeles. He also owns Carnival restaurant on Woodman Ave in Sherman Oaks. As a six-year-old, Gigi and Bella would sneak into the back of the restaurant and make falafels with the chef, an experience Hadid says is a highlight of her childhood.

6. She doesn’t like personal trainers

Like her sister, Hadid has a penchant for takeaway foods. “I eat a lot of pizza and really unhealthy food,” she told Seventeen. “I definitely gain weight and I’m not naturally thin. I’m really self conscious if I go to trainers, so I just do stuff on my own. I go on the treadmill or do yoga and Pilates if I can.”

7. She watches Netflix in three hour blocks

We can’t tell you the rest of this story just yet. Stay tuned tonight for a GRAZIA exclusive interview with Hadid, just minutes before the Misha Runway.
