Repeat after us: the bike short is not dead! Kendall Jenner has taken the thigh-hugging trend out for a spin again, wearing an all-black bike-short-shapewear situation on a night out in New York City. The spandex in question was in fact the Raining Diamonds Jumpsuit by Australian label, Atoir (or so we think), a one-piece unitard crafted in cotton – not lycra – after all. Cropped at the leg like a cycling short and low at the neckline like a boobtube, the tiny playsuit reaffirmed both the bike short’s longevity in fashion and our fixation with the ’90s, two broad trends which live on in Kendall Jenner and the like.

But there was also something strangely familiar about the outfit. Cast your mind back to the ’70s, and Jenner looked as if she’d stepped straight off the set of Grease; the super skin-tight, stretchy one-piece similar to Sandy’s iconic final song in the 1978 cult classic (albeit a little abbreviated in length). But instead of singing into the eyes of a leather-clad Danny Zuko, Jenner stepped out of her Manhattan hotel ready for a night out on the town with friends. Pairing the form-fitting playsuit with ’90s-inspired accessories – a single strap slingback by Alexander Wang, neat black shoulder bag and gold hoop earring – Jenner’s look had all the retro feels.

For the girl who seemingly can’t get enough of nostalgic fashion, this is just another sartorial notch in the long-line of vintage-inspired outfits for Kendall Jenner.
