The active show at MBFWA 2018 was a refreshing break from the high-fashion glitz and glamour most fashion week shows deliver.

This year’s show was all about going back to basics and playing with small embellishments to elevate the athleisure look. Showcasing in an industrial warehouse that oozed fitness-chic vibes, B.O.D by Finch, Koral, Jasmine Alexa and P.E Nation assembled to reveal their gym-ready Resort ’19 collections.

With so many big names in the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia Active line-up, we narrowed it down to five of the key must-know moments of the show.

1. P.E. NATION LAUNCHED ITS FIRST MENSWEAR COLLECTION

Known for their loud and proud active-living goods for women, Pip Edwards and Claire Tregoning, the creative directors and founders of the brand, have ventured into the less chartered waters of men’s sports wares. The talented duo was mindful of their target interest when it comes to dressing for a sweat-sesh and opted to subdue their usually quite bold aesthetic. This subdued change was a success given the sounds of the zealous crowds cheering at the end of the show.

2. CELEBRITY OFFSPRING DELILAH BELLE MADE AN APPEARANCE ON THE RUNWAY

Born to Beverley Hills House Wives mother, Lisa Rinna, the blonde beauty opened the show for the active wear brand Koral. Sporting a dreamy orange and blue bomber with barely-there bottoms the 19-year-old international model walked the brands runway.

3. JASMINE ALEXA WAS ALL ABOUT SLEEK GYM-TO-STREET BASICS

The brand revealed their minimalistic wares in today’s show which were both functional and stylish. Blurring the lines between day wear and sports, Jasmine Alexa took a unique approach to their designs that could easily be mistaken as more than just dressing for the gym. The brand focused on working with neutrals to realise the collection for its Resort 2019.

4. RACHAEL FINCH LAUNCHED HER NEW ACTIVE WEAR LINE B.O.D BY FINCH

Crafted to suit all levels of activity (even the much-dreaded cardio) the simplistic capsule collection offered a number of casual everyday looks to suit your sweaty needs. Rachel Finch curated the collection to be wearable and comfy, made to suit the lives of busy women.

5. IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE NEUTRAL PALETTE

One overarching theme across all the active Resort 2019 collections was the neutral colour palette used by the designers. A focus was placed on the shape, detail and functionality of the wares over the boldness of the hue. Blacks, whites, grey and navy were abundant in the showcase and alluded to a potential revival of the simplistic athleisure trend.
