Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima: both Brazilian, both 35-years-old, both 178cm in height, both mothers to two children, both Victoria’s Secret Angels, and both in Rio de Janeiro in their official capacity as food and culture correspondents for the NBC broadcasting network.

The similarities are endless, and yet, (I imagine) an uneasy rivalry exists between the two ostensible friends.

In the spirit of the Olympic Games, it has become inexplicably necessary for us to pit the two models against each other to determine, once and for all, who is the objectively better obscenely wealthy 5′ 10″ brunette. This is a unenviable task, one that will be completed not through incredible feats of strength, endurance or ability, but through a completely arbitrary appraisal of each woman’s four bedroom Ipanema Beach Airbnb penthouse apartment.

For the purposes of this seven heat round of ‘Of course that’s her Airbnb‘, Ambrosio’s apartment (“Modern penthouse in Ipanema beach“) will feature in the column on the left, with Lima’s (“Ipanema 4 bed penthouse beachfront“) featuring on the right.

Stairway to heaven
Though Ambrosio gets off to a strong start with natural materials and minimalist floating stairs, the Rococo chaise and floor mirror strike a discordant note. That said, points must be deducted for Lima’s literal starry stairway to the second floor of her duplex. Nobody wins this round. It’s a tie.

Coming clean
When it comes to the business of cleanliness, I think a clear victor emerges in the form of Ambrosio’s en plein air ensuite facilities. Though not included here, Lima’s shower converts to a blue light steam room, which is neither here nor there; her penthouse, however, does boast seven bathrooms to Ambrosio’s four, giving her living quarters an almost 2:1 bathroom to bedroom ratio. Garish mosaics and retirement home palette aside, more is more when it comes to washrooms and Lima progresses to take an early, yet narrow, lead in the second round.

Master of the house
I hate flag stone walls but I love (the sound of) “top of the range SERTA double beds, the same beds found in the majority of five star hotels worldwide.” Another victory for Team Lima.

Art above the dining tables
Honestly? Nobody wins, but were I held at gunpoint (which does not seem that unlikely an event in Rio judging by a documentary I saw recently) I would much rather dine with Adriana Lima and her pop art Louis Ghost Kartell Chairs.

Island life
It’s my personal opinion that white benchtops make for a more satisfying clean, but what do I know? I’d give this round to Ambrosio, purely based on ample storage space.

Views from the seat
In this, heat six, it becomes harder and harder to differentiate between what are clearly both spectacular apartments with ample questionable decor. Purely for the added convenience of not having to twist your neck to cop a load of the view, I’d give this round again to Ambrosio.

Bodies of water
In Greek mythology, Narcissus was a hunter from Thespiae in Boeotia who fell in love with his own image in the reflection of a pool and, unable to live in any other way, drowned himself. I think Narcissus would love Alessandra Ambrosio’s pool.

It’s a tie: 3-3.
