It might not be Alexa Chung’s first funny short fashion film, but the face of AG Denim’s latest hilarious offering as part of the Fall 2017 campaign proves she’s got an Hollywood career in the wings should she want it.

Then again, it’s easy to imagine when you watch it that Chung is just being her own candid, kooky self in the clip, which is set mostly in a hotel in New York City. Apparently based loosely on ‘actual events’ for Chung, the plotline involves her arriving in the city and leaving voicemail after voicemail trying to find a friend who’s free to socialise with.

Desperate for some company, she tries to draws a stony-faced bell boy – played beautifully by flame hot male model-of-the-moment Reuben Ramacher, who’s a regular fixture at men’s fashion week (Alexander McQueen, Roberto Cavalli, Public School, Rick Owens, on and on) and has covered numerous magazine covers (including ID, Dansk, Esquire) and fronted luxury campaigns (Diesel Black Gold, Sisley) – into keeping her company.

What happens in the course of Chung’s bored frenzy (featuring at least half a dozen AG outfit changes before she even leaves her room, of course) is all of us. Waiting for return phone calls, delirious with boredom.

Of course, it’s not the first self-depreciative video Chung, who is a seasoned television presenter, has created for AG. This one last year of her making a fool of herself at a French dinner party hinted at her rom-com skills. So what does any of this have to do with selling AG’s clothes? Not a huge amount directly other than making us sit up and take notice (on loop). Perhaps the cool-girl looks she wears just sink into our style conscious by osmosis?
