From past accounts, Alicia Vikander has a stillness in person; one that would imply the Swedish actress is so demure, she’s almost withdrawn. In Sydney though for the Australian premiere of her new film Jason Bourne, the 27-year-old Oscar winner is nothing else but lively and personable, if you can of course not become too distracted by her beauty.

As well as playing Heather Lee – the CIA agent in charge of capturing fugitive Bourne (played by Matt Damon) – in the franchise’s latest instalment, Vikander moonlights as Nicolas Ghesquèire’s right hand woman as an ambassador for Louis Vuitton. “I don’t know if you have any idea of the fashion world being a certain way but [Ghesquière] is just the most relaxed, sweet man,” she says in her formal English accent. “I think he empowers women a lot.”

As for the Rodarte Fall 2012 dress she wore to Australian premiere of the film on Sunday night, Vikander says it was a complete coincidence she opted for a design with Australian ancestral heritage. “I actually heard [it was aboriginal-inspired] after! I wish I had known that,” she says. “I’m actually in love with the print. Aboriginal culture and art is so interesting and that’s probably why I fell for the dress. I do love how the Rodarte sisters push for it and I love that they can go that wild with beautiful patterns and prints. It felt like a good autumn-y dress to wear for this kind of weather and occasion.”
