The 91st Annual Academy Awards have begun at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The ceremony will close out a huge awards season. The Favourite and Roma are tipped to win the night with each film clocking up 10 nominations. Both are nominated for Best picture along with Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, Green Book, Vice and A Star Is Born rounding out the category.
Lady Gaga is up for Best Actress for her performance in A Star Is Born making history as the first person to be nominated for both Best Actress and Best Original Song. She’s up against Yalitza Aparicio (Roma), Glenn Close (The Wife), Olivia Colman (The Favourite) and Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?).
Gaga’s A Star Is Born co-star Bradley Cooper was nominated for Best Actor, competing against Christian Bale (Vice), Willem Dafoe (At Eternity’s Gate), Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) and Viggo Mortensen (Green Book).
