Amal Clooney has taken maternity style to new heights, debuting her baby bump on the red carpet in Paris as she joined husband George at the César Film Awards.

The 39-year-old human rights lawyer, who it was revealed this month is expecting twins with her actor husband, was the centre of attention in a custom-made Atelier Versace gown for the event, where George, 51, received the Honorary César Award.

Amal’s growing bump was visible under the strapless cream number adorned with ombre feathers that stretched from the mid-section down, and she completed the old Hollywood glamour look with curled hair, large drop earrings and red lipstick.

This month American television host Julie Chen broke the news the Clooneys are expecting twins on US show The Talk, confirming that George had shared the news with her last month.

“Beyoncé is not the only superstar expecting twins,” Chen said. “Congratulations are in order for George and Amal Clooney. The Talk has confirmed that the 55-year-old superstar and his highly accomplished 39-year-old attorney wife are expecting twins.”

The presenter added that Amal is due in June.

Last year George said fatherhood wasn’t really on his radar – but of course now we know he was just throwing the public off the scent.

“Not really,” he said on CBS This Morning when asked if he was interested in becoming a dad. “I mean, I’ve thought about it, I suppose, but it hasn’t been high on my list.”

Last year it was revealed that Amal is taking on ISIS in the courtroom. She’s representing her client, Nadia Murad, who was kept and tortured by an ISIS leader in Mosul, Iraq, before managing to escape in 2014. Murad is a Nobel Peace Prize nominee and UN Goodwill Ambassador.
