Less than three months since giving birth to twins Alexander and Ella, Amal Clooney returned to the red carpet she informally owns – in a lilac Versace nonetheless – at the Venice Film Festival across the weekend.

She of course was there to support her husband George (who clutched her hand tight) at the premiere of his latest film Suburbicon in which he directed and stars good friend Matt Damon and Julianne Moore. The 39-year-old international human rights attorney then joined her husband at the after party in a three-tiered William Vintage Parisian haute couture dress. It was lauded make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury who gave us a sneak peek into Clooney’s makeup for the evening and dress change. “Congratulations to writer, producer, director #georgeclooney and writer, producer #grantheslov on the incredible #Suburbicon – an amazing film that had us all gripped from beginning to end. A visual feast with stunning performances by #mattdamon and #juliannemoore – a must see!” posted Tilbury.

Likened to Fargo, George has transformed an old Coen brothers script into a 1950’s tale about a “weaselly, amateur” criminal in the U.S who is reeling from a brutal home invasion that costs him the life of his disabled wife. According to early reviews though, but fails to hit the punches. Amal though, well, the reviews were all five stars.
