While they may have looked loved up at Splendour In The Grass mere weeks ago, actress Amber Heard has confirmed she and Tesla billionaire boss Elon Musk have split. Currently shooting her film Aquaman on the Gold Coast in Australia with co-stars Jason Momoa and Nicole Kidman, Heard was believed to be “devastated” by the break-up.

On Monday, UK publication The Mail on Sunday reported after one year, it was Musk’s decision to end his relationship with Heard, 31. “He ended it a week ago. He’d heard certain things about her behaviour that didn’t sit well with him,” a source said. “Amber can be very manipulative and selfish. Elon’s back in LA while she’s licking her wounds in Australia.”

Numerous sources in the U.S. speculated – and reportedly subsequently confirmed the split – by saying the couple’s busy schedules have also played a huge role. “The timing wasn’t good for them,” a source told U.S. Weekly. “He’s super busy and works all the time. Amber is filming [Aquaman] in Australia until October. She’s in no position to settle with him. She feels her career is just starting.”

This of course went against her father telling GRAZIA magazine in the U.K. just last month that his daughter was indeed ready to get married. “Amber and Elon are both very serious about each other. She would love to get married,” he said. “One of the thing they want to do is settle down and have a family. They are making plans for that.”

Now, Heard has responded. “Being in the public eye means having to explain yourself to so many people, so much of the time.” she posted to her Instagram. “In this case, I’d like to remain more quiet. Although we have broken up, Elon and I care deeply for one another and remain close. Thank you for the continued support, respect, and privacy during these difficult, very human times.”

The 46-year-old tech tycoon hooked up with Heard in the wake of her dramatic divorce from Johnny Depp in January 2017. They went public in April.
