The hills are alive with the sound of… Julie Andrews voicing a sea creature in DC’s newest instalment Aquaman. In Australian cinemas on December 26, the film’s producer Peter Safron let it slip to Entertainment Weekly that Andrews will voice Karathen, a character who can help Aquaman (Momoa) broker a peace deal with Atlantis and the real world.

“We wanted the Karathen to have the voice of a classic British actress, albeit somewhat digitally altered,” Safran told EW. “And when we found out Julie was interested and available and excited to do it, casting her was a no-brainer.”

Andrews’ cameo will see her at the cinemas the same time as her 1964 film, Mary Poppins, gets a reboot. Emily Blunt will play the magical nanny on January 1.
