Laura Wasser’s name is synonymous with the notion of “Hollywood’s complete divorce solution”. A hard ball, who has been helping multi-millionaires, athletes and celebrities legally cut ties for years, Wasser, 49, was Angelina Jolie’s first port-of-call when she divorced her second husband, Academy Award-winning actor Billy Bob Thornton in 2003.
Naturally, when Jolie was seeking a divorce attorney for her separation from third husband and father of her six children Brad Pitt, she rang Wasser. But now, in a sudden turn of events, Jolie has parted ways with the attorney.
The 43-year-old Oscar winner will now be working with Samantha Bley DeJean. “Angelina decided to change counsel to Samantha Bley DeJean of Bley and Bley, as Samantha’s expertise is the protection and best interests of children,” Mindy Nyby, spokesperson for Jolie said in a statement. “Angelina appreciates Laura’s cooperation in transitioning the case over the past several weeks.”
Jolie and Pitt are yet to reach a custody agreement for their children Maddox, 17, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12 and Knox and Vivienne, both 10. It’s been almost two years since Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in the wake of an alleged mile-high incident involving her soon-to-be ex-husband and their eldest son Maddox.
Since, it’s been like watching a tennis ball match between the two movie stars with Pitt recently accusing Jolie of thinly veiled efforts to manipulate the cases’ media coverage. This latest move is interesting and no doubt this cases’ “solution” will captivate international audiences on the same spectrum as The Royal Wedding.
