Ariana Grande has revealed the unexpected and frightening allergic reaction that caused her to cancel at least two of her Sweetener World Tour shows this week.

Grande updated fans on Thursday, revealing the cause of her illness was … tomatoes.

“We discovered…..that…..I had an unfortunate allergic reaction to tomatoes and my throat pretty much closed,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Still feels like I’m swallowing a cactus but slowly making progress! Thank u all for your love and understanding. can’t wait to get back to performing.”

Ariana, who is of Italian descent, took a moment to acknowledge the tragedy of suddenly becoming allergic to tomatoes.

“P.S. There is NOTHING MORE UNFAIR THAN AN ITALIAN WOMAN DEVELOPING AN ALLERGY TO TOMATOES IN HER MID TWENTIES…….”

After postponing her shows in Orlando and Tampa, Florida, the Thank U, Next singer hopes to be recovered enough to take to the stage in Miami on Friday.

Grande recently alluded to personal struggles when she admitted she finds performing her songs like reliving [emotional pain] all over again and it is hell.”

Careful now, Ari. Burnout is real – the World Health Organisation says so.
