Wrapped in layers of silky puffer, models walked around eerie birch trees for Moncler’s Fall 2019 presentation. They were doused in fluffy down, chunky cable knit and puffs of parachute fabric, with shiny faces peeking out from balaclavas. It was a warm and wooly sight. But despite this outwardly projection of a cold, dark winter – beauty was radiant and reeked of balmy climates.

Skin was well and truly lit-from-within, with Lauren Parsons keeping skin fresh and luminous. But the true shine came through lip and lid. Using M.A.C, Parsons painted lips in a bright orange-red, slicking a heavy dose of gloss on the top (we’re thinking M.A.C Lip Glass, in case you were wondering). The theme of gloss continued north, with eyes kept bare bar a sheer veil of gloss, which was worked up into the brow bone for a lucid wash.

Gloss – that gooey, goopy, high-shine texture synonymous with 90s lips – has since been refashioned for all parts of your face, with glossy lids a permanent fixture in high-flying beauty circles. As with Moncler, just a lick across lids instantly elevates your look from drab to fab (or fashion), with sticky lids an instant sign of high-fashion sensibilities.

It may have been cold out, but Moncler’s beauty made a striking proportion for a hot summer, and we’re OK with that.
