Why is everything changing? Firstly, Kanye West decides he will never play his back catalogue of hits in their original forms (and instead replace some of the lyrics with more PG phrases). Now Kim Kardashian West has said she is going to tone down her sex appeal – at least sartorially speaking. “How is this making news?” some critics reading this will be musing about now. Because our favourite part about keeping up with Kardashian is watching her squeeze into a tiny Mugler corset.

In a new interview with The Real, the 39-year-old said she wanted to respect her husband’s wishes to dress less sexy now that she’s getting older. “He is my husband so I obviously want to honour him and what he’s feeling and he’s been going through this life change,” she said. “It’s mostly about the kids. The kids are getting older and he’s very conscious about what we have in the house. We got rid of TV in the kids’ rooms and removed makeup from North’s room. (North is six years old and while she was previously allowed to wear makeup, her mother has now turned her daughter’s beauty-eye toward skincare.)

The line of questioning comes after Kardashian and West got into an argument about the reality star’s aforementioned Mugler worn to this year’s Met Gala. West – who is now tapping into his more spiritual side as evident in his new gospel album Jesus Is King – told his wife that the waist-accentuating, soaking wet look was too sexy and that it did indeed “hurt his soul”.

“You build me up to be this sexy person and [have] confidence and all this, and just because you’re on a journey and transformation doesn’t mean I’m in the same spot with you,” Kardashian snapped back.

Speaking to the outlet overnight, Kardashian said she understands where West was coming from. “I’ll always be me,” she said. “We were having this conversation of just, when is it too much? And I am a mother-of-four and I am going to be 40 next year. When is it time to stop?”

Do we have to tone it back when we hit a certain age? And do we need to “honour” or appease our partners wishes? We’d love to hear your thoughts on this one.
