Victoria’s Secret has landed in Australia at long last. Of course, we were already privy to tiny panties and candy-coloured accessories in our airports but now Australians can quite literally shop the heart-thumping runway as it airs tonight in New York City. (The show will air December 7 on channel ten Down Under.)
The Melbourne-based US-style store, located at Chadstone Shopping Centre, now stocks a full assortment of all VS collections including Body by Victoria, Very Sexy, Dream Angels, Bombshell, cotton lingerie and the on-trend Victoria’s Sport athleisure line.
With a similar aesthetic to New York’s 5th Avenue store, one in-store display alone is said to hold approximately 12, 000 pairs of panties, an overwhelming experience for the uninitiated. But at every turn, a sales assistant with a pink measuring tape around her neck is there to size you up and blow your mind when you realise you’re less broad than you imagined and a cup size larger. And if Melbourne emulates Manhattan’s VS values, we’ll see a strong push toward bralettes and padding-less underwires.
One thousand eager young women camped outside and waited for a first look at the store on Friday.
Victoria’s Secret operates more than 1600 lingerie and beauty stores globally.
The opening of the brand’s Australian store comes three weeks after the angels hit the runway at Pier 94 in New York City, the same show where Adriana Lima announced her retirement.
