After the wave of braids coming off the Autumn/Winter 2016 catwalks overseas, and the Insta-obsession with practically every kind of plait on the planet, it was surprising that it took until Day Four of Mercedes Fashion Week Australia for us to have our own major intricate-braid moment backstage. But the figure eight braid at the We Are Kindred show was worth the wait.

A brainchild of Travis Balcke for VS Sassoon, the figure-eight dual textured braid sported a softer-at-the-front-and-disciplined-at-the-back  vibe, which Balcke wanted cfreated to reflect the detail orientated collection coming down the catwalk.

Meanwhile anyone Pinterest or owner of an Instagram account would have spotted the signature hazy bronze eyes and stunning highlight of make-up artist, Ania Milczarczyk. Armed with Laura Mercier backstage, Milczarczyk opted for a natural flush on the cheeks and lips using . “I wanted to do a cutesy twist on a natural look, so the focus was the soft flush across the eyes and cheeks, and some of the girls have little freckles.”
