Bella Hadid faced the stuff of a model’s nightmares at Michael Kors’ New York Fashion Week show on Wednesday: she slipped and fell on the runway.

Bella was in a pair of precarious looking heels when she stumbled and hit the ground, the audience watching in horror (not enough horror to stop filming and taking photos, though).

But the little sister of Gigi Hadid handled the slip-up like a pro, keeping a smile on her face the whole way down and laughing to herself as she picked herself back up.

The 19-year-old must have taken notes from the how the greats have handled the same situation, because the way she shrugged off the mishap and kept on walking was reminiscent of Naomi Campbell at Vivienne Westwood’s show in Paris in 1993.

The incident made headlines around the world, but the stories didn’t mock or pity Campbell – they noted how she laughed as she got back up and headed backstage, cementing her image as the playful, daring ‘wild child’ of the modelling world.

Hadid managed her face-plant moment equally well, and we all know the modern wisdom that it’s not what happens to you, but how you handle it, that matters.

Bella’s close friend and fellow model Kendall Jenner was also in the show, so at least she had someone to give her a hug and tell her everything’s going to be okay afterwards.
