It’s weird, we swear a week ago Bella Hadid had shiny, shoulder-grazing hair as she sashayed into the Harper’s Bazaar ICONS party in New York. And yet yesterday in Milan, her hair was long and luscious, swooshing well past her shoulder line.

So how did Bella’s hair grow overnight? Of course, with a little celebrity beauty trickery (read: some well-placed, well-disguised, most likely very expensive extensions), that took her previously abbreviated chop to all new lengths (and further bolstered the swell of comparisons to Italian-French Carla Bruni).

Arriving in Milan for Milan Fashion Week, the runway fixture said a big ciao to the Italian city with palpably longer locks, which she swished and stroked seductivley for her near-20 million Instagram followers. Pairing her new, ironed ends – deeply side-parted and tucked behind one ear – with a gilded backless dress, ample diamonds and that signature Bella pout (plus to-the-camera kiss), the look was a definite lesson in Italian glamour. There wasn’t a terminator lens or Spice girl bun in sight; just pure, European opulence made all the more extra with a long, sleek mane.

With Beyoncé’s recent decision to embrace exaggerated length (see here), Kim Kardashian’s latest obsession with derriere-dancing strands and Bella’s newfound Italian love, a return to Rapunzel-like lengths seems imminent. Which begs the question: are short, sharp crops on their way out? Despite the bob remaining steadfast in the recent hair narrative, the long and the short of it is yes, according to the recent celeb leaning, it may be time to start growing your ends out.

But then who knows, next week Bella could front Paris Fashion Week with a fresh buzz, such is the nature of celebrity beauty and fashion. All we can say is, thank God for hair extensions.

As for that buzz cut, we wait with bated breath.
