Flossy bikinis aside, Bella Hadid has indulged some fashion nostalgia while holidaying in Greece. Against a brilliant Mykonos sunset and the island’s sugar cube architecture, Hadid is joined by friend Fanny Bourdette-Donon for a side-of-the-road photoshoot which could easily be mistaken for a shot out of an another era.

A little more Jackie than Donna, Bella put a modern spin on two classic tropes of the 70s; the halter neck and the flare. Wearing a sheer salmon chiffon top which tied around her neck and wrapped around the waist, it even included a very 70s styling hack; no bra (although this time around it wasn’t burning inside a bin). She wore the risqué top with a pair of high-waisted denim jeans with a flared leg and contrast stitch, and stacked gold chains (another 70s fashion move).

A little anklet and micro bag in the matching pinky hue completed the look. But perhaps the final touch was the most evocative of the era; Bella went barefoot. A riff on the liberal eclecticism of the decade, or just a marker of island life, either way, it’s a foolproof way to ground an outfit – even one with flare.
