Australian actor Ben Mendelsohn has received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for his role as Danny Rayburn in Netflix series Bloodline.

Mendelsohn is nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama category, going up against Jonathan Banks in Better Call Saul, Peter Dinklage and Kit Harrington in Game of Thrones, Michael Kelly in House Of Cards and Jon Voight in Ray Donovan.

Bloodline’s Kyle Chandler is also in the running for an award, receiving a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama.

Ben’s critically lauded performance in the dramatic thriller series, which has just been renewed for a third season, also earned him a Golden Globe nomination this year.

Mendelsohn rose to fame locally in series including Love My Way and Tangle, as well as big screen productions Animal Kingdom and Beautiful Kate. His profile at home led to a career in the US, scoring roles in The Dark Knight Rises, Mississippi Grind and the soon to be released Rogue One.

Game Of Thrones scooped the most accolades this year, the HBO fantasy hit nominated for an impressive 23 awards.

The award ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on September 18 and hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
