The New Year’s Eve parties have been and gone, as has this year’s much-hyped Falls Festival, but we give thanks for the fact it can be relived over and over via social media. (Because if you didn’t post about it, you weren’t there, right?)

Given festival fashion is almost a new sub-genre of its own in sunny climes like Australia and California, complete with a unique set of micro trends to match, there’s now as much focus on the event wardrobe as there is the music for many who land there.

We’ve rounded up the best looks from this year’s recently-wrapped event, which all ticked off key boho trends for this season.

Look 1: Kimono sleeve top (@nataschaelisa)

Fashion star Natashca Elisa took over Byron-based brand Auguste’s Insta account for the course of the festival and donned its signature kimono sleeve floral top, twisting it up into a midriff-bare style. She was also one of the very few fashion stars at the outdoor event not constantly wearing boots.

look 2: vintage showgirl (@mimielashiry)

The professional dancer and Instagram star wore a vintage dress with dragon motif and thigh-high split from Byron Bay store Alida Buffalo, along with block-heeled silver boots and a vintage Versace Jeans belt to see in the new year.

look 3: the slip dress (@tillyjacsmith)

Model Tilly Smith beat the extreme heat on the festival’s last day in a barely-there Dusty Rose Symi Slip Dress and Dakota Chain Boots from Byron-based clothing brand Arnhem. Layered neck chains, leather chokers and a practical backpack were the perfect accessories.

Look 4: crisp white (@lisadanielle__)

Proof there’s still a place for pretty, feminine looks at festivals – provided there’s no rain on the horizon. Lisa Smith wore a simple white cotton Magnolia Mini-Dress from celeb-favourite brand Spell & The Gypsy Collective, teamed with a rustic rope duffel bag and coin necklace.

Look 5: high-waisted denim (@anastasiacharlottevantiel)

Distressed micro-denim is a summer staple generally, but best worn now with a high-waist accented by a retro-style leather belt. Throw on an ultra-sheer top, statement chokers layered under chains and you’ve got the perfect low-key, high-impact summer look.

Look 6: Modern Tribal (@wethe_wildones)

Tartan met tribal with an almost ironic twist as fashion bloggers Lucy Jackson and Nikki Westcott from We The Wild Ones teamed up in current season Camilla Franks, complete with coin and bead accessories and the obligatory black ankle boots.
