For Coachella attenders – and for those who wishfully stream the festival live from their office desks in Australia – headliners for the past ten tears anyway, have been male. The Los Angeles Times noted the last “female-centric” act to headline at arguably the world’s best music festival was Bjork in 2007. The Times has even reported some lingo-inventers had taken to calling the festival “brochella” due to the lack of women in the largest font on the line-up list. Now, in 2017, Beyoncé is breaking another record as the first female headliner for Coachella in a decade. (I wonder if this is how festival organisers sold it to her?)

The Lemonade singer will join Kendrick Lamar and Radiohead as leading acts at Coachella across the weekends commencing April 14 and April 21. (We feel sorry for any acts who clash with The Queen’s set time.) Purchase tickets here. And psst: It’s an easier system than Splendour!
