Ever played that “if money was no object” fashion game that goes something like “and you could only wear one label for the next year, what would it be”?

Maybe it’s just the company I keep with fashion editor friends (although I did encounter it first during a job interview in the early stages of my career), but it’s still a fun one to toss around from time to time.

Occupational hazard for me as an editor who stares at fashion all day, it’s almost always been impossible to pick just one, but now I have a definitive answer: Balmain, or more specifically, should you care for detail, its new Resort 2019 Womenswear collection.

Not seen it? That’s understandable, given it wasn’t unveiled via the customary runway show, but rather a spectacular photo shoot which GRAZIA is first to reveal in full to Australia. (See the gallery at the bottom of this article.)

If you fall in love with the collection, you’re in good company (and no, I’m not referring to myself). Beyoncé’s VIP+++ privilege means she saw it long before any of us and nabbed this dress to wear during her current On The Run II tour with husband Jay Z.

Balmain’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing, who famously keeps a large framed picture of his BFF Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in his office, has blended what seems a record number of textures into the enormous resort womenswear collection. There’s the typical mirrored tiles, sequins, leather, knits and satin, a bit of lurex, some faux pearls and a lot of (departure here) denim, much of it reminiscent of Balmain’s signature look in the mid naughties.

Even better, the separate collection for the boys is just as jaw-droppingly good. Click HERE to see the Balmain Resort 2019 Menswear reveal on ICON.

So, if you were Kim K and money was no object… which piece in the Balmain Resort 2019 Men’s or Womenswear collections… GO.
