Beyonce is taking the crisis in Mexico and the Caribbean into her own hands.

On Friday Queen Bey released her first new music since the birth of twins Sir and Rumi, a remix of this year’s club hit Mi Gente by J Balvin and Willy William.

She said the entire proceeds of the song will go to the disaster relief effort.

“I am donating my proceeds from this song to hurricane relief charities for Puerto Rico, Mexico and the other affected Caribbean islands,” she wrote on Instagram.

Bey not only sings all the original lyrics in Spanish, but adds her own new verse to the track that seems to reference husband Jay-Z, whose latest album 4:44 makes mention of his wife a number of times.

My body stay wetter than the ocean/And he say that Creole in my body is like a potion/ I can be a beast or I can give you emotion/ But please don’t question my devotionI been giving birth on these haters ’cause I’m fertile
See these double Cs on this bag, murda
Want my double Ds in his bed, Serta
If you really love me, make an album about me, word up

And of course, she pays tribute to the millions affected by recent hurricanes Maria, Harvey and Irma, and the two earthquakes in Mexico.

Lift up your people/ From Texas, Puerto Rico/ Dem islands to Mexico/ Slay.

Mi Gente means “my people” in Spanish.

On her website, Bey has also made a list of organisations you can donate to that are assisting those in disaster affected areas across the Caribbean and North America.

“We’re heartbroken by the hurricanes and earthquakes that have devastated families around the world,” a statement reads.

“There are many ways to help. We’ve listed a few organisations that are on the ground from Mexico to the Caribbean, lending a hand to those who need it most.”

The situation in Puerto Rico in particular has reached crisis point. Since Hurricane Maria passed through last week, the US territory of 3.4 million people is facing a humanitarian crisis – millions are still without power, water, food, gas and money.

It’s understood aid is stuck on ships because there isn’t sufficient gas and truck drivers to get the aid to many inland areas.

President Trump has been criticised for not acting fast enough to help those in Puerto Rico – by Rihanna, no less.

“Dear @realDonaldTrump I know you’ve probably already seen this, but I just wanted to make sure!,” she tweeted, along with a New York Daily News front page.“Don’t let your people die like this.”
