The MTV Video Music Awards is always one of the more eventful awards shows, but this year’s ceremony looks set to be one of the most exciting yet.

The nominations were released on Wednesday, revealing that Beyonce is likely to scoop the pool with an incredible 11 nods for Lemonade – the most VMA nominations she’s ever received in one year.

Her mutual girl crush Adele (the women have made several public declarations of adoration for one another) came in a close second, receiving eight nominations for Hello

Adding some suspense to the night will be the expected presence of Kanye West, who earned two nominations for his controversial video for Famous, including the coveted Video of the Year category.

Famous depicts many high-profile personalities naked in bed with him, including Taylor Swift, who he is locked in an intense, public war of words with.

West and Swift’s long-running feud was born at the VMAs in 2009, when he famously stole the microphone from her during her acceptance speech for Best Female Video to proclaim that Beyonce deserved it for Single Ladies.

(The pair are unlikely to come face-to-face at the VMAs since Swift is unlikely to attend since she is not nominated for any awards this year).

West is up against Beyonce, Adele, Drake and Justin Bieber for this year’s award, and the internet will be watching to see his reaction upon winning or losing the category (to make some appropriate memes, obviously) at the ceremony, which will be held at New York’s Madison Square Garden on August 28.
