The news that one of the world’s favourite couples is having twins is a welcome distraction amongst the concern and chaos around the world resulting from Donald Trump’s erratic executive orders. But of course, it’s not really about us or the world, as heart-warming as it may be.

It’s a sign that the long-time couple, whose marital dirty laundry was aired via the lyrics of Beyonce’s album Lemonade last year, have move past their personal difficulties. Unless you’ve been living under a wifi-less rock for the last almost year, Jay was clearly unfaithful to his wife, and they went through a process of healing to save their marriage.

The couple no doubt suffered another blow in November when Hillary Clinton lost the US election. They had vigorously supported her, even throwing a concert to support her days before the election where Beyonce performedDressed in a polka-dot pantsuit (a nod to Hillary’s outfit of choice), she performed three of her most powerful feminist tracks: FormationFreedom and Run The World (Girls).

Given the size of Beyonce’s bump in the photo released today, she would have been aware she was pregnant as she stood on that stage; which makes what she told the crowd that day even more powerful: “I want my daughter to grow up seeing a woman lead our country and know that her possibilities are limitless. We have to think about the future of our daughters, our sons, and vote for someone who cares for them as much as we do. And that is why I’m with her.”
