In the wake of Lemonade and the numerous questions and accusations it prompted from the public, Beyonce stayed frustratingly silent.

So her decision to respond to a report that she gave a stranger a death stare at the NBA game she attended with Jay-Z in Cleveland, Ohio on Thursday night is puzzling, but also highly entertaining.

When the Huffington Post ran an article titled ‘Never Look Beyonce In The Eyes, You Fool’, making light of Bey appearing to shoot an ice-cold look at a man sitting next to them (they even went as far as to draw lasers coming from her eyes), they apparently published it so quickly that the game was still in full swing. The man the singer supposedly glared at – who we know now is Steve Cespedes – saw the article, and he showed it to Beyonce.

Her response? To stage a playful mockery of the story, posing for a photo with Steve in which she gives him a look so fiery it will haunt your dreams.

He later explained in a reply to one of many shocked fans that tweeted him that Bey and Jay were nice as pie, basically.

“Both Beyoncé and Jay-Z were beyond polite and very gracious,” he wrote. “The pic was her idea.”

It’s a refreshing, genuinely funny response from one of the world’s most guarded stars, who clearly knows that a picture speaks a 1000 words.

We’d still like some answers re: Lemonade, though. Please return our calls, Bey.
