If anyone is going to serve up an iconic Halloween look, it’s Beyonce. There has been Lil’ Kim, Janet and MJ, even Salt-N-Peppa with her mini, Blue Ivy.
And behold, this year’s Halloween outfit is as iconic as it gets. Meet “Phoni Braxton”, Beyonce’s spectacular riff on R&B legend Toni Braxton.
The emulation was uncanny; everything (and we mean everything) was spot on. From the white singlet, denim jean, draped leather jacket and gold chain belt down to the typeface and original album graphics, not a beat was missed in this Halloween makeover.
Then that perfect cropped pixie, brown-hued eye and brick red lip – it was a beauty makeover for the ages (and proves surprisingly relevant considering our current obsession with the ’90s). Transforming into Braxton from her eponymous 1993 album cover, Bey paid tribute to the soulful songstess on Instagram. “Sending love and adoration to one of our talented legends. Thank you for the countless bops. Your tone, your beauty, your range, and your God-given talent is treasured. Loving you always. Have a Happy Halloween my Kings and Queens.” And Braxton was equally chuffed, replying:
