Every Aussie fashion-lover knows nothing works better with a classic white BONDS T-shirt than well-worn, much-adored denim. Now, the much-loved brand famous for its 100 percent Aussie cotton tees has made that match-up even easier by teaming with cult Australian streetwear label One Teaspoon to create a new style of summer-ready, frayed denim shorts.

Called Marlon, the comfortable BONDS x One Teaspoon cut-offs are inspired by the best-selling One Teaspoon Brando style that’s proven popular over the past year with big-name fans like Chrissy Teigen and Beyoncé. (The latter famously added One Teaspoon Bandit microshorts to her 2018 festival and tour wardrobe roster.)

Produced in black, red and signature light-washed blue denim, the cropped Marlons are cleverly designed to be uniquely flattering – a longer curved hem at the back gives a touch of extra coverage, split seams allow for movement, while the higher front gives the illusion of a longer leg. (Because let’s be honest, not everyone’s got Chrissy or Bey’s micro-short chutzpah.)

The result? The perfect easy-wear summer bottom to team with your BONDS 100 percent Aussie cotton basics, whether that’s a vee-neck white tee, tank, cropped pullover, bikini top or (GRAZIA’s current warm-weather favourite) tank bodysuit.

As a bonus, the more you wash and wear these denim shorts, the better looking – i.e. deliciously frayed and distressed – they will look.

All three hues have been showcased in a photoshoot to celebrate the capsule’s launch. Revealed throughout this article, the images captured in Melbourne are, according to the creatives behind them, “a series of candid, spontaneous, relaxed and rebellious moments, that ultimately conjures a sense of freedom, edginess and fashion-focused cool that will appeal to fans of both labels.”

The also serve as cool styling inspiration: a white singlet is knotted up just above the shorts waistband. Combat boots bring an urban edge to the coastal denim vibe. Oversized hoop earrings and a long pendant necklace are all the accents needed over a bold orange BONDS tank bodysuit and worn blue Marlon shorts.

Ten nominated BONDS stores nationwide – Bondi Junction, Broadway, Chadstone, Doncaster, Highpoint, Indooroopilly, Melbourne Central, Miranda, Pacific Fair and Sydney City – will sell the shorts over the counter from today, Monday, October 29. You’ll also find them for a limited time at the Bonds online retail site (bonds.com.au) for $99.

For a laid-back, beach-centric label famously founded by Jamie Blakey on the northern beaches of Sydney, One Teaspoon sure has a lot of international superstars at the high-profile end of its fan base. At Coachella earlier this year, GRAZIA lost count of the A-list stars – including Gigi Hadid – wearing the label’s signature, super-distressed denim micro-shorts.

Along with Beyonce and Chrissy Teigen, its A-list fanbase includes Kendall Jenner, Alessandra Ambrosio, Selina Gomez, Hailey Beiber (nee Baldwin), Teresa Palmer and many more who regularly wear its beach-to-city denim cut-offs.

Similarly, BONDS has long been an icon of edgy-but-comfortable casual basics and is considered a high-rotation staple in every fashion editor and style influencer’s foundation wardrobe.

For the high street brand, teaming up with an in-demand cult street label was a genius move. After all, a teaspoon of sugar makes life so much sweeter, right?
