Gigi Hadid wears Fendi in Paris

In what is emerging as one of the most noticeable micro trends of the past year, the white boot resurgence has been given a 2018 kick by Gigi Hadid.

Sashaying past security and paparazzi in Paris overnight wearing the Fendi cowgirl boots she introduced on the Milan runway, Hadid joined what is fast becoming a fashion footwear whiteout.

Also giving their nod to the look was It girl Hailey Baldwin who strutted the streets of New York during fashion week in a quilted pair by the super-hot Off White C/O Jimmy Choo collaboration.

The bold white (and even occasionally patent) leather boot is back with a vengeance, replacing the staple black rider style of the last few years. The style set has been seen in everything from ankle to thigh-high styles and now, post-Milan Fall 2018, the western cut is back too.

While retrospective images of Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears in white knee-highs with denim cut-offs are burnt into our fashion faux par memories, this style redux is now worn as a fresh contrast between the boots and tailored fashion (think feminine pleated dresses, slouchy trousers and oversized coats). An ironic nod to the mid-2000s with plenty of play on traditional hemlines and proportions.

As Australia officially hits autumn tomorrow, refresh your own look hot on the (literal) heels of Hadid. Style up a head-turning new season look with a midi skirt paired with a tonal turtleneck or oversized knit. Keep the lengths long and overlap your bold new boots. Just remember to skip the puddles.
