In an historic decision, Britain has voted in favour of leaving the European Union after 43 years in the shocking final result of the Brexit electoral race.

Despite the implications of its portmanteau, the Brexit is not a Kardashian-Jenner endorsed orally-administered laxative but a divisive referendum that saw more than 33 million people turn out to vote 51.89% to 48.11% in favour of leaving. The BBC reports that the Brexit gave cause for the highest turn out of voters in an election since 1992, and that while London and Scotland voted to stay in the EU, poor results in the provincial north of England and Wales saw a nationalist majority vote in favour of a Brexit.

Multiple outlets are also reporting that the pound has fallen to its lowest level since 1985 in response to destabilised and volatile global markets. The leave process could reportedly take up to as much as two years, after which time Britain will be the first country to leave the union since its formation.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has issued a statement to reporters which hints at a ensuing period of uncertainly and instability:

“The impact on Australia immediately, directly, from a legal point of view, will be very limited because it will take some years for the United Kingdom to leave the European Union, to negotiate an exit. However, we’ve seen already large falls on stock markets and there will be a degree of uncertainty for some time.”
What this means for chic dual citizens like Lou Doillon remains unclear.

Pray for Lou.
