In fashion’s night of nights, the beauty theme observed on the red carpet were shades of pink and steely greys. In attendance were the who’s who of British fashion from the likes of Alexa Chung, Naomi Campbell, Pixie Geldof, Kate Moss, and Lily Donaldson. This year saw accolades given to Gigi Hadid who took out top prize for International Model, and Simone Rocha who was named the Best British Womenswear Designer, and wunderkind duo Jaden and Willow Smith rightfully took out the New Fashion Icons Award.

While British Designers were worn and represented in full force on the red carpet, from a beauty perspective, smokey, cool-toned eyes provided the perfect counterpart to peachy-keen complexions that hinted towards non-touring, strobing, and draping as the dominant trends to come.

The makeup took cues from British fashion and blended edgy, Brit girl smokey eyes, with delicate, feminine accent. ‘Just pinched’ cheeks looked girly and flushed in shades of peach, pink, and posie tints, while smouldering eyes were in all shades of grey and silver. Take a cue from Winnie Harlow, Kate Beckinsdale, and Ana Beatriz Barros and match the combo with a pretty pink lip.

The main takeaway from the red carpet was that contour and bronzer is out. Several looks featured visible, layers of blush that were ‘draped’ over cheekbones to create definition while maintaining a soft-focused, ultra-feminine appeal, versus contouring, in which taupe, and bronze shades are applied under the cheekbones to imitate a shadow. Several other looks incorporated matching lip and eyeshadow shades to give a co-ordinated, ethereal glow – think of it as the classic ‘bronzed, beachy look’, but nix the bronzer in favour of a peach-toned blush, lightly blended all over.
