Anticipation has been building for Britney Spears’ new album since her latest single, Make Me went straight to number one within hours of its release last month.

Unlike Frank Ocean, who is testing his loyal following by shrouding the release of his sophomore album in secrecy, Britney has told fans exactly when they can expect her 10th studio album, announcing the news on Twitter on Thursday.

The album is called Glory and the pop icon described it as “the beginning of a new era”. It’s dropping August 26 and will be available on Apple Music, with the option to pre-order starting at 2pm Thursday Australian Eastern Standard Time.

The early success of Make Me could be a sign that the one-time queen of pop might be able to reclaim her throne, and we don’t have to wait long to find out.
