In a world of romantic break-ups, even the most unexpected kind (read: Anna Faris and Chris Pratt and Selena Gomez and The Weeknd), it’s more than refreshing to see one of the world’s top supermodels Gigi Hadid and her musician beau Zayn Malik staying strong. So strong in fact, the couple celebrated their two year anniversary together overnight.

Hadid posted a boomerang to her Instagram story kissing her boyfriend – cocktail in hand, a smile even though her eyes were closed – with the caption “2 yrs w my favourite human”.

Happy 2 Years ZIGI ?❤️

In November of 2015, Malik approached Hadid after her first appearance on the Victoria’s Secret runway. She said at the time, “we played it cool for like 10 minutes and then I was like, ‘You’re really cute’”. He then cast her as his love interest in his breakout solo hit single Pillow Talk. From here, Hadid’s relationship with boyfriend Joe Jonas had dissipated, as had Malik’s engagement to Little Mix star Perrie Edwards. Both Jonas and Edwards were a little bitter when referencing their respective break-ups, the former telling media he felt Hadid moved on very quickly while Edwards wasn’t backward in coming forward in saying Malik had split up with her over text. She and her band than released a track titled “Shout Out To My Ex” in which, beyond the tattoo references, not-so-subtly cites “I hope she’s getting better sex/Hope she ain’t faking it like I did, babe/ Took four long years to call it quits/Forget that boy, I’m over it.”

Alas, Hadid and Malik became fondly known as Zigi and were the stars of any given red carpet event (Hello Met Gala 2016). In a recent interview with Billboard, Malik said the couple “pretty much live together” and despite extremely busy schedules, Hadid keeps them in check. “It’s actually not that hard for us [to line up schedules],” he said. “It helps that she’s really organised. Thank God! Because I’m really not, so she helps organise my schedule around seeing her.”
