Page Six went to town on Hustlers star Constance Wu this week alleging Wu’s representatives had contacted multiple publications to ensure their star got top billing in articles about the movie.

The appeal to outlets reportedly noted Jennifer Lopez – one of the film’s producers and stars – along with production partners, signed off on Wu’s top billing “a long time ago”. (You may have noticed whenever the film has been mentioned, Lopez and Cardi B’s names have been the focal points.) Overnight, however, Wu denied these claims to ET.

“We made this film with an incredible spirit of sisterhood and love. Any reports otherwise have felt like an age-old attempt to pit us against each other and knock us down when, in truth, we had the best time making this! We won’t be knocked down,” she said. “We will continue to share and celebrate this story together, as sisters. Thank you to all the fans for believing in us and supporting this film.”

Hustlers – a true story about a group of strippers who set out to get revenge on Wall Street clients – will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. The film is based on an incredible article written by New York journalist Jessica Pressler and published in New York Magazine in December 2015. It also stars Lili Reinhart, KeKe Palmer and Julia Stiles.

Hustlers will hit Australian cinemas on October 10.
