When the first Fifty Shades Of Grey film released some years back, it was widely reported the film’s stars, Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, lacked chemistry – both on and off screen. In a new interview with Jamie Dornan and Conan O’Brien however, it appears the latter assumption is indeed incorrect.

Promoting his latest film – the final in the E.L. James fantasy trilogy – Fifty Shades Freed, Dornan says it was Johnson who gave him “sexy notes” while choreographing the sex scenes (and there’s a lot in this film).

“I guess there’s a sexy way to take off a girl’s underwear,” Dornan explained to O’Brien. “There is a more delicate, sensual way to do it. It’s thumbs to the side [of the underwear], and then you sort of shimmy it down.”

Speaking about the steamy scenes, Johnson recently said it did take “serious psychological preparation”. “I really had to get ready for it each time and know exactly what we were going to do and how we were going to accomplish shooting the scenes, the more intimate ones,” she explained. “Over the course of the three films, it never got easier. It wasn’t like, ‘Oh, this old thing,’ you know?”

Our opinion? Love or loathe the cheesy script, the latest instalment is the best in the trilogy. Perhaps because the power play is a lot more balanced between Christian and Anastasia, perhaps because those scenes are actually theatrically so well shot!

Fifty Shades Freed is in Australian cinemas on Valentine’s day February 14.
