Hello Kitty, everyone’s favourite cat, is turning 45 and she’s celebrating with a pair of new jeans. Teaming up with Levi’s, the cult Sanrio character is making her way onto everything from our beloved 501’s to tops and tees for a collaboration the stuff of kawaii dreams.

The limited-edition range of streetwear sees a collision of two iconic cultural touchstones; the wildly popular Japanese character and the global authority on denim coming together in a whole new light. Key pieces include the oversized Dad Trucker Denim Jacket, a graphic printed tee and of course jeans, which feature the cute cat popping up from a front-facing pocket and her signature red bows on the back of the lower leg. Even the iconic red-and-white Levi’s logo has had a kittenish update; with Hello Kitty and friends lining up on the classic batwing.

A partnership which evokes peak nostalgia, both Levi’s and Hello Kitty are pillars of popular culture worldwide. After all, Miss Kitty is the second highest-grossing franchise of all-time, amassing a reported 80 billion dollars in retail sales in her 45-years. Now that’s an expensive cat.

Levi’s x Hello Kitty is available tomorrow from levis.com.au and select Levi’s stores along with Myer, The Iconic and Glue.
