A funny thing happens every time the four-city fashion week circus passes through our social media feeds: along with a blur of spectacular clothing and front row musings there usually emerges a handful of amazing accessories that take on a life of their own.
Last Paris Fashion Week, one of those limelight-stealing pieces from the Dior Spring/Summer 2016 runway served encores on the soles of dozens of fashion editors, bloggers and style-savvy customers post landing in store February. The Dior SS16 patent calfskin sling back pump – despite the boringly nondescript name – has fast emerged as one of the easiest shoes to recognise at a distance this season in situ or on social. Odds on, this shape will be one of the most imitated on the high street over the coming year as well.
Dior’s new high-shine patent star has all the makings of a commercial hit shoe: high heel that’s still comfortable enough to wear all day (10 centimetres to be exact), flattering pointed toe, cute ribbon-like ankle wrap and patent leather that’s cheekily shiny. For low-lovers, there’s an utterly sensible 3.5cm heel option as well. Little wonder Dior’s SS16 accessories campaign revolved around the style, which comes in black, white and blush versions, along with a combination of all three hues. Everything to love, nothing to lose.
