Confession: like a large portion of critics and Netflix customers alike, I spent way more hours than I had to spare this past weekend watching Maniac, its new original series starring Oscar-winner Emma Stone with Jonah Hill and Justin Theroux. It’s seriously that good.

How fitting then that in a case of fashion colliding with cultural zeitgeist, the dress Stone wore to the New York premiere of the show just happened to be GRAZIA’s favourite from the recent international Pre-Spring 2019 collections, too – a pleated degrade lame gown in graduated metallic bronze and olive by Givenchy that’s fun but still insanely sexy.

Indeed, the day Givenchy unveiled the collection, I posted this model shot of the dress to my Instagram saying as much (likening it to both a goddess and a high-glam frilled neck lizard: all the Australian feels.) The fact it was designed by Clare Waight Keller – the same woman who made Meghan Markle’s wedding dress – just ramped up the glam factor.

Stone finished her look with Bulgari serpent earrings and rings

With her porcelain skin, strawberry blonde locks, golden makeup and Bulgari serpent jewellery, Stone dazzled on the red carpet, a far cry from the dishevelled young hustler with attitude, Annie Landsberg, who she portrays so brilliantly at the start of the series.

Clearly, challenging television roles aren’t the only excellent choices she’s been making of late.

Maniac premiered on Netflix on September 20. More details here.
