First there was the fashion show. Then came the ad campaign shoot reveal with behind-the-scenes teasers.
So what better after-party to herald the much-hyped arrival of Chanel’s Cuba Cruise 2017 collection in store than a short film telling a fantasy story about the girls Lagerfeld dreamed of wearing these clothes when he created them?
We’ll tell you what’s better: a video that’s so enticing, it leaves us wanting to pack our bags and jet to Havana to learn salsa. In these backless metallic bowler shoes that are tempting enough to have Dorothy trading in her rubies, no less.

Who couldn’t relate with the girl (played by model Lindsay Wixson) who sits bored at her work station and daydreams of jetting to a glamorous foreign location to learn dance from a handsome instructor alongside her best friend (model Binx Walton) then dancing barefoot on tables all night long afterwards. The fact she’s in head-to-toe Chanel just makes the fantasy complete.
Colourful, sequinned, embellished and cool, this Chanel Cruise 2017 collection – unveiled in an epic-scale Havana street runway show last May – is possibly the most fun Lagerfeld’s ever had with the classic brand. This special collection is full of party-appropriate, any-age pieces ideal for the Christmas holidays and Australian summer.
