We get it. You dream it, you work hard and you probably grind it too, right? And at the end of a long week you want to let go and let loose a little bit. Yet if the effects of those early morning commutes, late nights in the office are or last minute deadlines have made their way to your face in the form of fine lines, dark circles and dull skin by the weekend, it’s time to re-think you’re Saturday night pre-game routine. Here’s your final countdown to a smoother, brighter and clearer complexion by pre-drinks.

The night before
First off, nothing nixes the above skin symptoms like sleep. “It’s simple but if you have something special on or you just want to look your best get at least eight hours of sleep, it’s free and will do wonders for the complexion,” says skin expert and funder of The Double Bay Clinic, Melanie Grant. With a client list that includes Nicole Trunfio, Madison Stubbington, Lara Bingle and Phoebe Tonkin, Grant is used to getting her A-List clients ready for events and photo-shoots, so who better to go to for her It-girl approved recommendations?

In the morning
When you wake up take a brisk walk or do something to break a sweat, as getting boosting your circulation will bring a glow to back to your skin. Next? Drink up. “Try to drink at least two litres of water during the day to improve and maintain hydration,” suggests Grant.

Time for your facial
This isn’t the time to try that intensive DIY peel or handheld micro current device for the first time. When you only have a few hours, reduce any risks of redness by keeping to the basics. “Do a double cleanse, then exfoliate and do a mask,” says Grant. If you’re akin to scrubs go for it otherwise opt for a gentle exfoliating treatment featuring fruit acids, low levels of AHAs, green tea or clay to gently slough away any dead surface cells that are diminishing you glow. Meanwhile a hydrating mask will plump fine lines and bring back a bounce to lacklustre skin.

Feel the chill
For a quick fix post mask, try Grant’s classic trick. “Plunge your face ice cold water, it will instantly tone and de-puff the skin.” Kate Moss ices her face every morning and Victoria’s Secret Angel, Jasmine Tookes told Intothegloss.com, “ I take an ice cube and rub it on my face until it’s gone…It keeps your pores really tight, and you wake up with a perfect complexion.” And try denying her glow.

Moisturise right
“Finish up with a firm face massage using your favourite moisturiser and blot any excess with a damp face cloth before applying make-up,” recommends Grant. For a final hit of hydration, mist your face with a floral face spray when your Uber’s on arrival and go out and glow you gorgeous thing you.
