Fergie has broken her silence about her separation from husband of eight years Josh Duhamel.
Speaking to People, the Fergalicious singer said the pair had been privately separated for some time, and it was “getting a little weird” to publicly pretend they were still together.
“Honestly, it was just getting a little weird for us with all the romantic questions,” the 42-year-old explained.
“We’re great friends, we love each other so much, and it just got to the point where it was getting a little weird … There’s no perfect time so we just decided to do it.”
When pressed about how long they’d been separated for, she replied:
“You can ask him, but it was just getting a little weird to laugh through the first date questions.”
Despite the break-up, the pair are co-parenting their four-year-old son, Axl.
Fergie and Josh announced the news this month in a joint statement.
“With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year,” it read.
“To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public.
“We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family.”
