Victoria’s Secret 2018
Although it’s not scientifically proven, shoes can sometimes posses medicinal properties, which is particularly ironic when you’re talking about a pair of ‘killer’ stilettos.
This is a fact Colombian-born and Miami-raised Central Saint Martins graduate Edgardo Osorio knows all too well. His women’s label Aquazzura might only be seven years old, but it’s already a household name in designer footwear and boasts a slew of the world’s most famous women – including Meghan Markle, Nicole Kidman, Amal Clooney and Beyonce – as die-hard fans.
Then again, one look at his sexy Fall Winter 2018 collection and you’ll understand why, regardless of the exxy pricetag It’s also easy to understand how he’s spurred countless try-hards to turn copycat. In 2016 Aquazzura sued Ivanka Trump’s company for allegedly ripping off it’s signature shoe silhouette to be sold at a fraction of the price.
So what treats would Osorio like to see on your feet – like the Duchess of Sussex’s – come August?
Disco-glittered stiletto boots, for a start, plus leopard and red suede and boots of all lengths from ankle to thigh. There’s even a throwback platform sandal thrown in for good measure, along with plenty of patent leather and even a token ‘low’ 3-inch heel.
In a nutshell, the FW18 collection, which was inspired by Paris and the idea of French glamour and sensuality in the 1980s, is not one for shrinking violets.
“Hunting through volumes and colours of ‘80s Parisian couture and the iconic pictures of Grace Jones, Loulou de la Falaise, Paloma Picasso, Andy Warhol, Yves Saint Laurent and Bianca Jagger partying in the iconic Parisian Club Le Palace, the collection features feminine and strong silhouettes, patent leathers, velvets and contrasting bows and ruffles, and a certain exuberance in the evening styles,” says the designer.
We’re certainly feeling better for having just looked at them. Medicinal purposes indeed.
