George and Amal Clooney arrive at the 2018 Met Gala in New York City.

The 2018 Met Gala has begun. The theme this year – Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination – explores the way the Catholic church has served as inspiration to designers through the centuries. All eyes, however, today will be on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art as designers and their celebrity muses give their best apostolic takes (read: a tightrope walk between fashion and the person who takes it too far and steps out of a Pope mobile laden only in rosary beads. Well, here’s to us hoping anyway…). Take a first look here beginning with Met chairwoman Amal Clooney in British designer Richard Quinn.
