‘Tis the season to be frivolous and festive, and beauty is no exception. In the lead up to Christmas, we have asked five of our favourite makeup artists to share their go-to holiday beauty looks. First up, celebrity makeup master, Michael Brown.

Brown steers clear of cliched red and favours a softly smoked winged line for the party period. “Red is a popular fashion shade this festive season…Rather than trying to match lip shades, go festive with the eyes,” notes Brown.

The undisputed king of the taupe smokey eye, when it comes to the holiday season, he recommends lifting the shadow upwards to mimic a cat-eye, “For extra glam, extend your deeper shadow shade into a wing liner,” he says. “I like to use neutral shades and build up depth through the socket, blending up in a lifting outward direction. Just because your line is shadowy, doesn’t mean it should be askew. So how do we achieve that flawless line, even with eye shadow? “Map out your line by placing a pencil from outer nostril, diagonally up to outer corner of the eye, this will be the perfect guide to follow the lifting direction of your outer wing.”

To keep the the party raging up the top, he suggests keeping your pout nude. “Pair with a neutral lip to not pull focus from the eye, or clash with a red outfit and you have a winner.”

Like a Christmas angel, this is only kind of wing to be wearing this silly season.
