While 80-year-old, self-confessed “super fast” director Ridley Scott is working overtime to re-shoot all of Kevin Spacey’s scenes in his film All The Money In The World (still due in cinemas next month), Hollywood has been forced to take a good, long look at itself. Scott’s move was unprecedented and it appears Gal Gadot (read: box office saviour of the DC Universe and real-life Wonder Woman) is the latest high-profile name to adhere to the industry-wide house-cleaning duties of boycotting those accused of sexual assault.

In the midst of multiple women (Olivia Munn and Ellen Page among them) recounting such experiences with director and producer Brett Ratner, Gadot allegedly gave Warner Bros. a rigid ultimatum: get rid of Ratner or get rid of her. According to Page Six, Gadot has threatened to walk from the Wonder Woman franchise if the distributor giant’s connections with Ratner are not severed completely.

“Gadot is saying she won’t sign for the sequel unless Warner Bros. buys Brett out [of his financing deal] and gets rid of him,” Page Six’s source explained. “She’s tough and stands by her principles. She also knows the best way to hit people like Brett Ratner is in the wallet. She also knows that Warner Bros. has to side with her on this issue as it develops. They can’t have a movie rooted in women’s empowerment being part-financed by a man accused of sexual misconduct against women.”

Gadot, a vocal supporter of women has reportedly been determined not to let Ratner financially benefit from the Wonder Woman franchise which has seen it gross AUD $523 million at the box office. “Bullying and sexual harassment is unacceptable! I stand by all the courageous women confronting their fears and speaking out,” she wrote on her Instagram. “Together we stand. We are all united in this time of change.”

While these reports have not been confirmed by Gadot’s representatives, it’s refreshing to be reporting on a story with a different narrative to those revealed in the wake of the Weinstein scandal. And how fitting it’s Wonder Woman herself at the helm of the battle.
