As we step firmly into summer and our calendars fill up with end-of-year festivities, the temptation to ramp up your hot hair styling use is real – but back-to-back blow-drying, curling and styling can wreak havoc on your hair. Plus the concept of sending time under heat when it’s already a thousand degrees outside seems counter productive. Enter: heat-free hairstyling. Take your cue from Gigi Hadid, who even on the wintery streets of Manhattan is inspiring us to drop the tools and skip the heat via an AM-bun, to PM-beachy waves situation.

Start your day out like Gigi with a tight ballerina bun, prepping with a smoothing serum or curling cream to control frizz while it dries. Then, before after-work-drinks kick-off, release your bun and run your fingers through for touchable waves and natural bounce. Hit your lengths up with some texturising spray or sea salt mist and flip your part deeply to one side for an added dose of volume. Twist low on he nap of your neck for waves that starts at your jawline, or take it higher for Gigi-esque volume. And finally, if your hair is prone to kinks, opt for spring-style hair ties, which won’t leave tell-tale dents after it has dried.
